As a result of the devastating bushfires affecting areas and communities across multiple states, air quality has become a health and safety hazard across YMCA Victoria sites and programs.
The health, safety and welfare of you and your family is our number one priority, and therefore we have developed an Air Quality Response Process.
This following response is in relation to our Summer 2020 School Holiday Program. The process is as follows:
All centres do regular/hourly monitoring of the EPA website for air pollution levels.
All YMCA outdoor activities are cancelled when air pollution is rated at very poor by the EPA. However, centres can also cancel or reschedule outdoor activities and programs when air pollution is rated at poor.
No children will go outside or participate in outdoor activities when air quality is rated ‘very poor’ quality by the EPA. All ventilation systems and air conditioners must also be set to circulate, ensuring they are not bringing in any outdoor air.
If the air quality is rated ‘poor’, our early learning and school holiday programs will run as normal but all outdoor activities will be moved inside.
