Chances are you’re not doing anything wrong. We all do things a little differently.

Getting the most out of your membership starts with understanding your body. Once you know how you’re unique it’s easier to take control of your training regime.

Your design

Moving differently to others is natural. We’re not all created with the same body composition.

Someone who jogs at the same pace you sprint isn’t necessarily fitter than you. They may have longer legs, a lighter frame, and a larger lung capacity.

If you’re into functional movement, you may find your knees extend over your toes when squatting or that your shoulders round slightly when deadlifting. This is normal!

Our body composition often dictates what our strengths, weaknesses, and movement patterns are. Book in to have your movement assessed and find what training programs are best suited to you.

Your lifestyle

You’ve probably heard it a million times, but what you do outside the gym plays a huge part in how you perform inside the gym.

If you sit at a desk all day your mobility may be limited. Mobility exercises improve your strength, reduce the likelihood of injuries, and boost your body’s work capacity. Click here to learn a few simple exercises that can help to improve your movement quality.

The sports you play also have an impact. Soccer players are more likely to have stronger legs, and golfers may have hyper mobile spines and erecters. This could mean you need to improve strength in other areas.

Your fitness level

The person who gets through an entire group fitness class without breaking a sweat didn’t start training yesterday. Neither did the person squatting 160kg, or the runner with four minute kilometres.

Having holistic fitness isn’t something that will happen overnight. Remember, your ability only dictates what you’re capable of at one point in time. The benefits of training in a variety of methods gives you the opportunity to build on current strengths and improve on weaknesses.
